Terms of Use
Human Agency in AI Council
Effective and last updated: August 17, 2026
These Terms govern humanagencycouncil.org and the Human Agency in AI Council’s related Research Library, publications, forms, programs, events, communications, and digital services (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. About the Council
Human Agency in AI Council (“HAAIC,” “Council,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides research, education, convening, advisory perspectives, and professional collaboration concerning AI, human judgment, governance, and organizational value. The Council is not a governmental, regulatory, accreditation, or certification authority.
2. Eligibility and Authority
You must be legally capable of accepting these Terms. If you use the Services for an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind it.
3. Responsible Use
You agree to:
- use the Services lawfully, professionally, and consistently with human dignity, intellectual honesty, safety, and the rights of others;
- not disrupt security, probe systems without authorization, introduce malicious code, impersonate others, harvest information unlawfully, or use the Services for fraud, harassment, discrimination, or unlawful surveillance;
- not misrepresent Council content, participation, membership, affiliations, marks, or statements; and
- not use Council materials at scale to train, benchmark, or develop a commercial AI system without written permission, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.
4. Human Judgment and AI
Council materials may discuss or use AI-assisted methods. AI and analytical tools can be incomplete, probabilistic, or context-dependent. You remain responsible for meaningful human review, appropriate expertise, documentation, and decisions made from any content or tool. The Services do not replace professional legal, financial, medical, cybersecurity, academic, or regulatory advice.
5. Research and Educational Information
The Services are for general research, educational, and informational purposes. Findings, frameworks, case examples, forecasts, and opinions may change and may not apply to your facts. References to organizations, technologies, or practices do not necessarily constitute endorsement. Independently validate material information before acting.
6. Intellectual Property
The Services and original Council content—including text, publications, graphics, marks, page design, frameworks, and compilations—are owned by HAAIC or used with permission and protected by law. Unless stated otherwise, HAAIC grants a limited, revocable, nonexclusive, nontransferable license for personal, internal professional, educational, or scholarly use. Reasonable quotation with accurate attribution and a source link is permitted where lawful. Reproduction, republication, adaptation, sale, systematic distribution, removal of notices, or use of Council marks requires written permission, except as otherwise allowed by law, including fair use.
7. User Submissions
You retain ownership of content you submit and represent that you have necessary rights and permissions. For operational submissions, you grant HAAIC a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, format, transmit, and use the content only as reasonably necessary to evaluate, administer, and respond. Public publication, attribution, or broader reuse requires the permissions stated in the applicable submission or publication agreement. Do not submit confidential or restricted information through a general form.
8. Applications, Membership, Volunteering, and Participation
An application, proposal, inquiry, or registration does not guarantee selection, membership, publication, funding, speaking engagement, partnership, volunteer placement, enrollment, or another opportunity. HAAIC may establish eligibility, review, conduct, confidentiality, contribution, and participation requirements. Material selection decisions are intended to include human review. Participation may be suspended or ended for misconduct, misrepresentation, conflicts of interest, failure to meet requirements, or risk to the Council or its community.
9. Events and Programs
Additional terms may govern events, education, advisory engagements, or paid services, including registration, cancellation, recording, confidentiality, conduct, and payment. Those terms govern the specific activity if they conflict with these Terms.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and is incorporated by reference.
11. Third-Party Services
The Services may link to or integrate third-party platforms, publications, or tools. HAAIC does not control and is not responsible for their availability, security, accuracy, terms, content, or privacy practices.
12. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” HAAIC DISCLAIMS EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND SECURITY. HAAIC DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR SUITABLE FOR A PARTICULAR DECISION OR OUTCOME.
13. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HAAIC AND ITS OFFICERS, MEMBERS, CONTRIBUTORS, ADVISORS, VOLUNTEERS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, REVENUE, OPPORTUNITY, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION. WHERE LIABILITY CANNOT BE EXCLUDED, HAAIC’S AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE FREE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED US$100. UNLAWFUL LIMITATIONS APPLY ONLY TO THE MAXIMUM LAWFUL EXTENT.
14. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless HAAIC and its officers, members, contributors, advisors, volunteers, service providers, and affiliates from claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful use, submissions, violation of these Terms, or infringement of another person’s rights.
15. Suspension and Termination
We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect the Services, users, third parties, or the Council; respond to legal obligations; or address a breach. Provisions that by their nature should survive will survive.
16. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Unresolved disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Georgia. Confirm HAAIC’s legal entity, principal office, and preferred county before publication.
17. Changes and Severability
We may update these Terms by posting a revised version with a new effective date. Material changes apply prospectively unless law permits otherwise. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum necessary extent; remaining provisions remain effective.
